The Cosmic Diet
Eating in a way in which to support the flow of cosmic energy through an organism.
Cosmic Organisms
Physical nourishment serves to stimulate our mental and spiritual consciousness.
Physiology is psychology.
Food is a spiritual matter.
The flow of energy.
If we see food on this level, the goal of nutrition should be to maximize consciousness or flow of energy, and prevent against harm, or inefficient flow of energy.
Easily digestible foods that are rich in nutrients, and minimize harm to all organisms.
Given this framework, the two most ideal foods according to Dr. Ray Peat are milk, and fruit.
“When you look at food cosmically, the nature of cosmic energy produced by fusion presumably, or by whatever makes solar stellar energy flow through substances, you should see the process of nutrition in that cosmic dimension, and it happens that the safest nutrition for long life and clear consciousness, unstressed consciousness happen to be fruit and milk. The milk purifies nutrients and rebalances them in an anti stress way, and with fruit, it’s designed to nourish its seeds or to feed an animal that will distribute the seeds, so the seeds would be unethical to eat, and the body of fruit would be an absolute positive thing in the cosmic flow of energy.” -Ray Peat1
Tesla’s Nutrition
Nikola Tesla also looked at nutrition in a similar way, following the cosmic law.
Tesla preferred two meals a day, one for energy through daytime, and one for replenishment through night.
“The most important element in my scheme of life is my diet. You cannot expect a machine to function well if you do not provide it with the proper fuel.”
“Being a scientist, I attempt to regulate the machine which I call my body according to the laws of the planet on which I live. Whatever scheme of life man adopts, it must conform to the physical condition created by the rotation of the globe.”
As a young engineer, Tesla prepared himself puréed beverages consisting of milk, beef, and fruit.
“In my early youth I concluded that the ideal way was to absorb food in a fine, almost fluid form, and in the proper volume continuously, in small amounts, throughout our hours of work.”2
Physiology
Milk, as a source of well balanced macronutrients, as well as providing a generous amount of calcium, vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin K, is anti stress to the organism.
Throughout history, milk has been used therapeutically, and considering it’s role in the growth of a young organism, this can be used to support the idea of maximizing the flow of cosmic energy and replicating the youthful state.
Fruit, by providing a generous amount of easily digestible carbohydrates and energy to support oxidative metabolism, is another food that can be used in this similar manner. The micronutrient quantity of fruit is also something to consider.
Fruit, can be produced safely at a relatively large scale, and as long as it’s cultivated organically, is a very positive thing.
No life is harmed in the consumption or cultivation of milk, and as long as one does not destroy or eat the seeds of fruits, the fruit is able to spread and grow.
A point of contention.
The idea that milk becomes undigestible into adulthood, is made for babies, and should not be consumed by humans (from mammals other than humans), is in my opinion, complete propaganda, and nonsensical.
Hypothyroidism
The reason it’s believed that milk is not be meant for consumption, comes back to the idea of energy production and the thyroid. In hypothyroidism, the body loses ability to properly digest food. This can be explained by the body lacking energy to produce digestive enzymes, etc. required for the proper digestion of foods. (This also leads to bacterial overgrowths which further the issue. Clearing bacteria can be therapeutic.)
One of these enzymes which is impaired is the lactase enzyme, which breaks down lactose in milk. In hypothyroidism/lactase deficiency, the body becomes lactose intolerant3, and the reason we develop this intolerance over time is due to the accumulation of environmental stressors through life that oppose our energy production.
This is why if your parents are lactose intolerant, you will be lactose intolerant, unless you address it…
Raw milk
Raw milk, which is just unpasteurized, or unheated milk, contains many nutrients and enzymes that are only present in raw form. One of these enzymes that can be produced in raw milk is lactase enzyme. That’s right…
Raw milk could help you digest raw milk…
Many individuals (including myself), when consuming raw milk with previous lactose intolerance, can properly digest milk when in presence of the lactase enzyme (like in raw milk), and find that they recover an ability to drink milk, having no issues drinking it in this form.4
In my opinion, this is why all milk, but particular raw milk, is proposed unhealthy or even dangerous.
If milk is cultivated with a high standard of cleanliness, what you get is a safe, nutritious food that has been consumed for centuries, until about now.
Hmm…
Homogenization
Another factor to consider is homogenization, which is essentially just the process of breaking down the size of milk fat particles. This can be an extremely important factor for milk tolerance.
Raw milk can often be tolerable for many, but this may not always be the most optimal, according to Dr. Ray Peat.
In my opinion, one of the key ideas of bioenergetics is that the flow of energy itself is antibiotic in nature. This is why focusing on gut microbiome diversity is not the first place to start, and at times harmful. If metabolism and gut motility are low, bad bacteria can propagate much more easier. An efficient metabolism keeps the gut constantly moving; thus becoming as close to sterile as possible, and this is what prevents the bad bacteria from propagating.
Drinking high quality pasteurized or UHT milk can actually be beneficial due to this lower bacterial content, and some may actually digest this milk even better, but again, homogenization is also a huge factor to consider.
You can find an incredible article expanding on milk, homogenization, and lactase here.
Additives
Many commercial milks contain added vitamins and gums which can cause digestive distress.
Added Vitamins A and D should be avoided as much as possible.
So the reason people are lactose intolerant is due to hypothyroidism causing a lack in production of proper digestive enzymes, then by drinking pasteurized and or homogenized milk containing irritating additives, this manifest as dairy intolerance.
“The degenerative diseases can begin in the earliest years of life, but because aging, like growth, is a developmental process, it's never too late to start the corrective process." -Ray Peat
Essentially, by supporting thyroid energy production, clearing bacteria, and consuming quality milk, these issues can be resolved.
Nature VS “Plant based”
People promoting the idea that milk is not meant for human consumption commonly support the consumption of plant based milk products, which are not only incredibly deficient in nutritional value, but also detrimental to the spirit of all living things.
In my opinion, plant based products fit under the picture of unnatural consumption, and are used as a tool of control, turning an individual away from their faculties, removing their autonomy.
Plant based products can be produced cheaply, are devoid of nutritional value and preserve the idea that the natural way of life is “killing us” when really, what’s killing us are these inventions. I believe this ultimately comes back to suppressing intuition and turning an individual away from good. I wrote about this here.
The very idea that milk is relatively cheap, rich in nutritional value should be enough evidence to explain why the powers that be do not want the masses consuming milk. Milk cannot be controlled at a large scale, and this is what stops the powers that be from pursuing it. What happens when you try to cultivate milk at a large scale is that the quality is destroyed, leaving the milk undigestible, deficient in nutrients, and full of toxic substances, coming from sick animals who are forced to live in stressful and hostile environments: the factory farm… and this is where we are now... Commercial milk is undigestible, and these conditions are the only cause of this.
When milk is cultivated in natural conditions (at a small scale), what you get is milk that is digestible, nutrient rich, and full of healing qualities.
Ruling bodies cannot scale production of this milk, they cannot force you to buy it as a prescription, etc. The power of this milk is in the hands of the people cultivating it; producing cheap, nutrient rich, and healing food; giving them autonomy.
Can this be achieved at a large scale?
Now, the idea of How do you produce this at a large scale? is still in question, but in my opinion, you don’t…
The idea of autonomy is that it lies in each individual’s environment. Autonomy is really the idea of Good, which is essentially the idea of listening to your intuition, divine energy, or God.
Focusing only on your environment, living in accordance with nature, and following intuition is how we achieve this at a large scale, as each individual community will thrive in the way that they were meant to.
To turn away from this idea is to turn away from Good. It is to try to obtain what we aren’t meant to have, to force things, and need things to be a certain way.
To follow Good is to have constant change, free flow of energy, and ultimate autonomy. Life regulates itself properly, and everything that is meant to be, will be. This isn’t to say that things aren’t achieved at a large scale, since actually, what is natural, or meant to be at a large scale, will too be achieved. This is ultimately the idea of Good.
Conclusion
In my opinion, there are several other foods you can add to this list. (honey is my honorable mention) and I think eggs could also fit in this picture.5
There is an argument to be made that all plants, and all things we consume; either are currently, or were at one point, “life.”
This kind of squashes the vegan argument that says to consume only plant matter, as there is evidence to say that plants are in fact a form of sentient “life”. The very idea that plants, such as vegetables, produces defense chemicals to inhibit nutrient absorption should be enough evidence to corroborate this.6
The question of vegetables that do not contain as many defense chemicals as others such as potatoes and other root vegetables; fruit-vegetables; mushrooms with medicinal and nutritious qualities; and the idea of synthetic isolations will be an ongoing question for this framework.
In my opinion, one should always err on the side of caution and maintain awareness of their senses when it comes to what they consume.
I think something important to consider with nutrition choices, or any choice for that matter is the harm being done.
If we can strive to minimize the things that deplete energy and focus only on the things that promote it, I think life will flow towards exactly where it needs to be…
The cistern contains, the fountain overflows.
-William Blake
Looking at food in this framework allows us to see the beauty and practicality of nutrition, extracting substance from life and expanding consciousness.

Fantastic article friend
As I was reading this I was thinking of eggs and honey as items to add, and got excited to see them at the end. Those four food items are essentially free from nature, and that alone should guide our decision to consume them - their nutrition is a bonus!
The cows will produce milk whether we want them to or not... The bees will make honey whether we want them to or not... same thing with chickens and fruit trees. Then you consume the cow and chicken when they become too old, and you basically have the perfect diet.
